Committees
CONTINUING EDUCATION COMMITTEE
The purpose of this committee is to develop various Continuing Education opportunities to educate Family Law professionals to the changes within the industry. The goal is to provide a short interactive and creative learning environment to discuss a variety of topics which would interest attorneys, mental health professionals and accountants such as collaborative divorce or expert testimony.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
The goal of this committee is to continue its efforts in increasing membership enrollment through the annual conference, advertising and networking. All meetings are open to the public, not just Family Law professionals. Those interested in joining, please see the home page for contact information.
12TH CIRCUIT PROGRAM FUNDING COMMITTEE
This Committee was established to determine how funds from FCPC can be utilized to assist families in the Twelfth Circuit. It continues to gather information to identify services and educational and funding needs of divorcing families.
CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
The Conference Committee, co-chaired by Victoria Roberts, CFP and Vicki Wilson, Esq. is busy finalizing plans for our annual Conference scheduled for April 2009. The Group has chosen The Polo Grill – Fete Ballroom in Lakewood Ranch, making the location easily accessible to both Manatee and Sarasota attendees. A delicious lunch will be served and parking should be more than adequate. Be prepared to be entertained by some of our local Judges.
Information on the Conference agenda will be posted once it is finalized. For additional information please see the Conference page.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Financial Professional’s role in divorce matters is generally guided by the facts and circumstances of each case. The following list illustrates the services which may be provided in a divorce case:
- Identification and valuation of assets
- Determination of the parties’ income
- Analysis of the parties’ standard of living
- Preparation of alimony scenarios
- Calculation of child support
- Valuation of business interests
- Tracing of non-marital/special equity interests
The Committee is developing a “plain-talk” pamphlet to provide information relating to the basic issues encountered by divorcing families. Although this will include general information, detailed instructions concerning financial disclosure required in a divorce can be found at the following links:
